The system that injects air into the exhaust stream to allow full combustion of unburnt fuel is what we call Secondary air injection system is a system. This is a strategy that controls emulsion in vehicles. The way air is injected in the exhaust systems determines the way this strategy works. Also this strategy working method depends on where the air enters from to the exhaust stream. This has been varying over the cause of revolution.
The first systems that were first developed allowed injection of air at a point that was too close to the engine. Before the ejection of the gases, oxygen that was produced by this kind of systems could burn all the unburnt and partially burn fuel in the exhaust. In those earlier times of invention of these systems, there used to be more unburnt fuel in the exhaust stream. But air injection minimized the ejection of the unburnt gases from the tailpipe. Due to this, the system worked well and there was reduction of the amount of unburnt of unburnt fuel in the exhaust stream.
The pumped air injection systems and aspirated air injection systems comprised of the two main secondary air injection systems types. Let us start looking at pumped air injection. This systems use air pump. The engine is what that turns the air pump through the motor. The screen is rotated to filter the air taken in so that dirty particle that can damage the system is eliminated. Then under small pressure, air gets into the injection point. There is this part that is known as the check valve. This check valve prevents the exhaust getting back to the air injection system. Serious damage can result from the exhaust getting back to the air injection system.
Aspirated air injection is achieved by the negative force in the exhaust when the engine is idle. A valve called aspirator valve is put in an air injection pumping that draws clean air into the exhaust. The valve is known to be very sensitive. Short negative forces get into the exhaust when the engine is in idle state. This forces draws air into the exhaust system through the aspirator valve. Most of the modern vehicles such as Toyota use this kind of systems.
